Earth Centre Bath and North East Somerset

I hope you are well. We spoke very briefly – on Westgate Street – at the last Youth Strike 4 Climate.

I am writing to you in your capacity as Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency and Neighbourhood Services, and as a local resident/worker.

This week, I launched a consultation on the establishment of an Earth Centre for Bath and North East Somerset. This would be a new civil society institution – a social enterprise – dedicated to improving public understanding of the Earth System, the Human System, their interrelation, and the emergency situation through a combination of exhibitions, reference materials, events, and workspace. It would provide services to local pupils and students, residents, workers, and visitors, and local civil society institutions working on related matters. I attach a copy of the proposal.

I would like to invite you to contribute to the feasibility study as an individual.

I would also like to ask you, as Cabinet Member, whether and how you think Bath and North East Somerset Council might like to support the establishment of an Earth Centre serving the locality, including help with publicising the consultation internally and externally.
