Morning

Up 08 30. Notice of ‘National March and Sit Down’ Saturday 23rd July by institutions including Jeremy Corbyn’s Peace and Justice Project, Just Stop Oil, Insulate Britain.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; cornflakes (dairy milk). Right hand hinge connecting monitor to motherboard/keyboard failed completely so detached. Reports resignations from HMG.

Booked return tickets, checking RMT for possible disruption.

Elevenses : coffee. Joined locals receiving the caravane of the Tour de France in Villeneuve d’Ascq : branded/customised motor vehicles representing likes of Total Energie, Skoda, Continental, some of which distributed tidbits as passed through. Sapeurs-Pompiers alone received with applause.

Afternoon

Lunch : fruits de mer with samphire; bread; lemonade.

Watched echappes, peloton, and straggler come through, clapping and encouraging latter (‘Allez!’).

Did shopping with friend.

Evening

Attended buffet hosted by NetforGod institution for volontaires. Spoke to number people, one asking me whether UK media as unhealthy as French, and another recommending give Etre de Gauche Aujourd’hui a listen regarding LFI/Melenchon (he had misgivings about democracy in party).

Supper : quiche; salad; beer.

Returned late, eating toast and cheese with milk and honey before turning in.
