Morning

Up 08 50.

Breakfast : half an orange; coffee; muesli. Noticed Green Party England & Wales tweeting congratulations to Her Majesty the Queen on years of service. Justification given is that possible to applaud service regardless the institution (GPEW policy is to abolish monarchy). Think this incorrect. C4 reporting destruction of biosphere over reign.

Elevenses : coffee; madeleines.

Afternoon

Lunch : fried egg; rice.

Went to Royal United Hospital [RUH] to collect items for friend. Pleased to see portraits of staff along corridor walls. Poster explaining rainbow badges near main entrance saying ‘non judgemental’ workplace. Didn’t sound quite right : nothing to judge. Passed two fire engines/pumps arriving seemingly at 5* Priory Hotel whose courtyard was full of black SUVs. Dropped stuff with friend and spent while at apartment before going home.

Tea : black tea; shortbread.

Evening

Went out for food, finding Waitrose closed (four day Jubilee bank holiday weekend) and trying Sainsburys instead. Passed group people recognise from streets talking about someone having punched someone in the face. Met neighbour in process of moving in. Heard glass being smashed but no sound of distress, noticing neighbours cleaning at rear building subsequently. A neighbour had warned me some time ago that old windows and frames – like the cladding – were a risk to residents and visitors which Environmental Health office at local authority had seemed to disregard when I made enquiries.

Supper : pepperoni pizza.
