A view north to Smallcombe Woods, a small parcel of ancient (temperate) forest. Under capitalist development, forest cover tends to be replaced with rangeland/grazing for livestock – the largest land use in the UK – and cropland (including for animal feed). The British Isles are severely nature depleted.
