Capitalist classes now rule almost all high income and middle/low income countries around the world. The most powerful capitalist classes in the high income countries – and the corporations and states they control – have organised international and national public policy and private business – war/organised violence and more peaceful economic activity – to their material advantage, commanding outsize shares of private wealth, income, consumption and leisure, and enjoying low morbidity and high life expectancy. Middle/low income countries, and working classes everywhere pay the price with reduced shares of wealth, income, consumption and leisure and high morbidity, poverty, and premature death. The natural world is also exploited with habitat destruction, carbon and other pollution, and now climate breakdown, and mass extinction accelerating.
