Morning

Up 08 30. Difficult dreams. Congestion; headache. Works at front of building.

Breakfast : coffee; muesli (almond milk). Buzz at door : delivery for neighbour who answered as I did. Put bins out. Frustrated at seeing tweets by ‘follows’ of those I follow. Laundry on. Decided do away with old socks most of which holed or shrunken or both.

Worked on LFE and TNS backlog.

Elevenses : coffee.

Searched for jobs/self-employments.

Afternoon

Lunch : pizza; salad. Hung laundry to dry.

Siesta.

Tea : apple; black tea. HOC suspended until two days after state funeral apparently. TUC Congress suspended.

Spoke friend.

Evening

Supper : pizza; salad.

Updated CV and sent with covering message to NHS address given. Did progress report and sent to EA, copying to Universal Credit system as usual.

Morning

Up 07 15. Congestion.

Breakfast : coffee; muesli (almond milk). Metropolitan Police shot dead unarmed black man. Fracking lawful again.

Prepared for appointments.

Met WC at Pinesgate (DWP). Reviewed progress and discussed Jobs Fair, indicating last time attended fair spoke to representatives of Civil Service and HMRC who had referred me to websites. WC mentioned EiE. Went on to EA at Northgate House (Seetec Pluss) who listened to review progress, advising me sign up to NHS ‘bank’ and Local Authority equivalent. Said such casual work may be used to recruit permanent staff (not my experience). More generally, EA related how had managed get family examine whether considered their views were, in fact, theirs or BBC editors’. Had ceased waching and listening BBC News, after reflecting on what EA called ‘Agent Smith Syndrome’. Made next appointment.

Elevenses : coffee (outside at Cascara).

Joined CWU members on Manvers Street picket line. Good reception again. Some managers in evidence doing special deliveries apparently. One of members young mother, attending with child in pram, complete with messaging. Left after 90 minutes or so as pickets began calling it a day.

Returned home via Waitrose, buying pizza. Saw acquaintances, one sitting outside with new facial injuries, and a small business owner, now married, who seemed quite content. Discussed picket with Waitrose staff members who confirmed maltreatment staff from own experience.

Afternoon

Lunch: pizza; salad. Scaffolding continuing. Neighbour left note on door to bloc saying someone had signed for parcel which had failed to reach her.

Siesta.

Spoke friend.

Wednesday 7th September 2022

Morning

Up 08 30. Disturbed 04 45 by what sounded like impact on bathroom window. Difficult dreams. Congestion.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (almond milk). Rent freeze announced in Scotland. Spoke friend.

Went to bathroom and showered. Scaffolding contractors rang at door asking whether knew how move cars on forecourt.

Worked on LFE.

Elevenses : coffee.

Shopped for food, buying reduced beef burgers and apple juice. Saw postman, wishing well with strike, saying encouraging for me and others, and discussing general political situation.

Afternoon

Lunch : beefburgers in a bun; salad. Spoke friend. Scaffolders outside window warned me about proximity of end of lateral to kitchen window pane. Tied handle to tap to restrict opening.

Siesta.

Tea : plums; black tea.

Worked on LFE. Went to Waitrose, remembering needed shower gel. Crossed Julian Road as car approached from main road, beating motorist to it. ‘Very dangerous. Fucking stupid,’ said the passenger. Had nothing to add.

Supper : burger in a bun; fries.

Worked on LFE. Cannabis smoke in studio.

Morning

Up 08 25. Difficult dreams. Congestion.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; toast; muesli (almond milk). UCU members striking (Further Education).

Did dishes,and watched Democracy at Work’s Economic Update on socialism/communism distinction. Went to bathroom and showered. Spoke friend.

Lunch : bread with hummus; salad. Spoke friend.

Siesta.

Tea : ice-cream; black tea. More discussion online Joe Lycett on BBC show (affecting support for new Prime Minister).

Met friend for catch up at The Raven, over an ale (courtesy friend). Felt bad as had brought me spare slow cooker to use and declined as looked too small. Shopped for food in Waitrose en route home, buying reduced burgers.

Evening

Supper : pea protein burgers in a bun; coleslaw (courtesy friend). Wrong side of 47c in coastal California apparently.

Morning

Up 07 45. Woken by woman screaming in small hours. Let it go this time. Congestion; tooth aching; gut discomfort. Closed window as work at rear.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (cream/water mix). Chile apparently rejected proposed new constitution.

Spoke friend. Did dishes and went bathroom.

Afternoon

Lunch : breaded haddock; fries; salad.

Went to town, visiting M&S, buying socks; North Parade bridge where thought about life for a while; Waitrose where bought muesli on offer; charity shops, telling staff about EiE; and cafe for lemon polenta cake.

Tea : lemon polenta cake; black tea. Friend sent message saying landlord alleging falsely that owed back payments for duration contract.

Worked on LFE.

Evening

Supper : breaded haddock; fries; salad.

Went to Sainsburys for ice-cream. Staff member worried about bills. Mentioned EiE. Thunderstorm on return; hung saturated clothes to dry on entry.

Ate ice-cream as cooled off.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; toast with butter. Assembly of 75,000 reported in Prague regarding energy. 58% UK teachers feeding hungry pupils apparently. Received invitation to consider candidacy (MP) as BathNES Green Party member.

Worked on LFE : looked through ONS article on leisure time. Shut kitchen window due to chainsawing. Showered and shaved.

Elevenses : coffee; cherry pie with cream.

Continued working on LFE.

Afternoon

Lunch : bread with hummus. Discussion online of appearance of comedian on new flagship BBC weekend broadcast. Noticed neighbour entered bloc who must have key and presume represents the ‘Management Company’.

Did dishes before heading into town where looked for clothes and bought reduced breaded haddock and a Mohito in a can in M&S. Good performance of Massenet piece by busking violinist by the Abbey.

Tea : cherry pie with cream; black tea. Closed rear window due to van engine running at rear.

Felt unwell so took a nap. Van engine still running when woke.

Supper : bread with hummus.

Spoke to friend. Some gut discomfort LHS which guess might be to do with sourdough bread.

Morning

Up 08 30. Congestion. Notices unofficial warning of roadworks from developer and contractor.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (dairy). Launch rally EiE Liverpool yesterday. Ukrainian nuclear plant stormed by Ukrainian forces, notwithstanding presence IAEA inspectors, apparently. UK Health Security Agency expanded ‘polio sewage surveillance’ outside London. Neapolitans burning bills.

Showered, dressed, and went out to meet friend, taking coffee at coffee house (courtesy me), before going on to Farmer’s Market where bought bread, onions, fennel, plums. Saw colleagues and friend.

Lunch : moules et frites; salad. Neighbour singing Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds.

Siesta.

Tea : plums; black tea.

Went to Waitrose for food, buying reduced cherry pie and cream. Doorman at The Green Tree asked me where I was going as I passed. Acquaintance I met earlier in year said hello, explaining had bad day, only managing sell two poems; was thinking printing poems on rice paper so people could pay to ‘eat [his] words’.

Supper : bread, hummus, tomato; cherry pie and cream.

Morning

Up 08 30. Congestion; discomfort gut.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (dairy). Paid rent. 125,000 odd vacancies in NHS. Shocking footage Argentinian VP apparently narrowly avoiding assassination. Reported that John Lewis worst (recorded) minimum wage offender in UK.

Went to bathroom; showered. Laundry on : towels.

Searched for jobs, failing find notes made earlier in week and trying reprise from memory. Searched through Bath Spa University and National Trust which is large landowner locally.

Elevenses : coffee.

Continued searching as above.

Afternoon

Lunch : spiced chipolatas; couscous; beetroot salad. Hung towels to dry.

Siesta.

Tea : grapes; black tea. Footage XR action inside main chamber House of Commons.

Continued searching for jobs as above.

Went to M&S and Waitrose buying moules, frozen fries, reduced mousse, nuts. Had to explain to woman in queue why had not proceeded as far as next person (there was ample room). ‘Shall I go ahead?’ ‘No.’ Said hello to same acquaintance saw on street previously, noticing when turned head that face bloodied with bad cut over his eye. Was asking what he was going to do when three young persons turned up. ‘Who did that?’ Left it to them (and him).

Morning

Up 09 00. Difficult dreams. Congestion.

Breakfast : coffee; muesli (oat milk). Footage Bernie Sanders at RMT rally yesterday. 80% Pakistan livestock lost apparently. Watched Asad Rahman with Hartley-Brewer on Talk Radio : not sure productive.

Went bathroom, shaved, showered. Tried pay rent but Cooperative Bank website down. Noticed domain name auto-renewed ($18-00).

Worked on LFE a little but felt unsettled.

Decided visit Morrison’s for orange juice, chipolatas, reduced salad. Visited charity shop nearby, overhearing staff member saying whole chicken goes a long way (£4 a bird); she feeds chicken to her dog.

Went to Waitrose, stopping briefly to talk to acquaintance sitting on street. Talked about travails in recent weeks – including 4 A&E visits in space of week – and saying something about friend being framed (pointing across street at man he said was guilty party).
