Morning

Up 08 15. Broken night due to cold : need combine autumn and summer duvets. Congestion.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (almond milk). Nordstream 2 pipeline apparently sabotaged. Works in road and in studio above.

Went bathroom, showered and dressed. Took samples round to surgery where receptionist said no collection at site on Wednesdays, offering me two new containers for new samples in case needed.

Attended UCU picket at Bath City College which again well attended and supported. Did leafleting again. Discussed EiE and proto-party with some members. Some students sitting down outside class rooms apparently. One member compared experience what was first picket favourably with prison riots where prisoners threw own excrement at wardens.

Elevenses : coffee.

Remained on picket until wrapped up.

Afternoon

Lunch : piperade; poached egg.

Thought about life.

Tea : black tea. Spoke friend.

Evening

Supper : pizza; salad.

Managed lock self out taking meter reading outside door to studio. Oven/stove off fortunately. Used last energy in mobile phone to try contact Managing Agent (no response), research locksmiths (£100 quoted which ‘goes up at seven o’ clock’), and contact friend who invited stay and sort out from there. Opted for latter and much relieved was in.

Waited a while and walked round to friend where received with glass red wine.

Spent evening with friend who kindly charged phone and made up spare room.

Turned in.

Tuesday 27th September 2022

Morning

Up 07 30. Congestion.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; toast with butter; muesli.

Showered and shaved; pumiced foot. Dressed.

Thought about jobs and structure working week. Wrote to Holburne Museum.

Elevenses : coffee.

Attended appointment with EA at Northgate House (Seetec Pluss). Reviewed plan, discussing possible options in NHS and elsewhere. Discussed jobs at ONS had found, mentioning analyst groups in Civil Service and CPD associated with each pathway; laggard in Civil Service in CPD is DWP apparently (until more recently).

Walked to Bath City College to book appointment as call not returned, finding UCU picket line which joined. Good atmosphere inc good playlist/sound system. Well attended. Did some leafleting, also talking to members about pay and conditions, and some students.

Afternoon

Lunch : minestrone soup; bread. New windows being fitted to studio upstairs (presumably double glazing going in).

Went out to avoid noise, seeing colleague in town who invited me to event at CEC pop up, and visiting charity shops, Specsavers where enquired about eye tests on NHS, and Rymans where bought pens on offer.

Tea : grapes; black tea.

Attended appointment with GP at Heart of Bath practice in Lansdown. ‘Bankrobber’ by The Clash in Waiting Room. Spent 30 minutes with GP, working through list I had prepared : agreed would continue monitoring gut discomfort after January examination (he did not ask to examine himself); IAPT (online resource gateway to possible services) suggested for mental ill health and neurodiversity questions (confirmed I did not have persistent suicidal thoughts); discussed congestion post-suspected COVID-19 in the summer and athlete’s foot (foot photographed), agreeing take samples for foot/nail and blood test in case oral medicine required. Left surgery with sample containers, agreeing with receptionist to drop in by closing time. Returned by closing time to discover last collection time is 13 30.

Went to Waitrose for food. Spoke Security Guard recommending Crouching Tiger etc after he said he liked kung fu films.

Evening

Supper : piperade; bread.

Watched All Quiet on the Western Front.

Morning

Up 08 25. Congestion. Shut window as sanding or angle grinding at rear.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (almond milk). Far right apparently prevailed in Italian elections.

Worked on CSR, thinking about life.

Showered, receiving superficial cut to left shin from falling saw as exited bathtub.

Met friend for coffee at The Fine Cheese Company.

Elevenses : coffee; croissant (courtesy friend).

Caught up and discussed political situation before walking into town centre and visiting pop up Green Outreach Hub/Climate Emergency Centre where friend wished drop in on friend (BathNES Council staging Climate and Biodiversity Festival). Heard volunteer talking about taking electric car (BMW) all way to Italy and back for holiday in summer. Shopped for food in M&S and Waitrose en-route home.

Afternoon

Lunch : minestrone soup; bread.

Siesta.

Tea : grapes; black tea. Closed window to try exclude two stroke fumes.

Investigated van hire to clear material from studio (held since COVID lockdowns in 2020) and visit parents in North West England. Wrote to mother. Not feeling great. Friend messaged me saying landlord persisting in attempted extortion.

Up 08 20. Difficult dreams. Congestion. Workmen clonking around from 08 00.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (dairy milk). Apparently Fridays for Future Global Strike Friday (had forgotten after seeing mention some time ago). NEU balloting for strike action. Closed window at rear.

Looked for jobs on Civil Service jobs site. Low pay PT Field Officer job requiring own vehicle. Felt trapped. Woman threw up at rear.

Attended rally by Bath Extinction Rebellion at Bath Spa station, accompanying friend to Royal Victoria Park to collect his luggage before returning to station to catch his train, passing march en-route.

Went to Waitrose, mentioning EiE to member staff.

Afternoon

Lunch : pizza; salad. Took deep breath and opened water bill : in credit (as last time).

Worked on CSR.

Tea : grapes; black tea.

Continued working on CSR.

Evening

Supper : koftas; bread; salad. Shut window as motorist on phone (loudspeaker). Watched NTAMS.

Morning

Up 08 20. Spoke friend.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (dairy milk). Shut window as cold on legs.

Joined friend and walked to Farmers’ Market, and then where I supposed Argos to be (persuaded to buy a Crockpot) but which had long since closed.

Elevenses : coffee (courtesy friend). Looked at state financial markets together.

Walked down to Great Bath Feast to see what was what, inspecting stalls and taking it in, including those sat on street as usual, in their usual spots. Friend bought olive oil.

Afternoon

Lunch : bread; olive oil; red wine.

Spent afternoon with friend at apartment, skipping tea in favour long, late lunch.

Went to Waitrose for food, buying reduced lamb koftas and flat bread.

Evening

Supper : lamb koftas; bread.

Cleaned and tidied kitchen, thinking about life and friend.

Watched Episode 1 of The Labour Files by Al Jazeera.

Morning

Up 08 25. Difficult dreams. Congestion. Cut ankle somehow.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (dairy). Watched Climate Uncensored interview with Greta Thunberg and Kevin Anderson. Closed window : chainsawing. Did dishes, cutting thumb.

Worked on CSR, listening to Prem Sikka on the NTAMS. Some energy companies making 40% profit.

Elevenses : coffee.

Continued working on CSR. Went to Waitrose for food, buying pasta on offer.

Afternoon

Lunch : pasta; salad. Water bill arrived.

Siesta.

Tea : grapes; water.

Continued work on CSR, listening to Jacobin production.

Supper : pasta; salad. Sterling down significantly, and long gilt yields up.

Wrote to BathNES Council manager regarding position. Searched through BathNES jobs on site, selecting a number and investigating job description. Wrote progress report for EA and WC and sent as usual.

Online before turning in. Took paracetamol to avoid developing headache.

Morning

Up 08 45. Restless in night. Congestion.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (dairy milk). Watched Ken Loach on Not the Andrew Marr Show : suggesting new proto-party needs organising by some unions.

Worked on CSR.

Elevenses : coffee.

Continued working on CSR.

Afternoon

Lunch : Bombay mix; aloo gobi; naan.

Continued working as above.

Went to Brewers for sample. Encountered postman en-route who made sure I knew about industrial action 30th September and 1st October. Mentioned same to staff in Brewers (inc EiE) : no or little interest/concern. Saw acquaintance and friend who invited me to party. Skipped tea.

Joined friend for glass red wine at apartment (courtesy friend) where caught up and discussed possibilities nuclear conflict.

Went to Waitrose, buying pizza base.

Morning

Up 08 30. Congestion.

Breakfast : orange juice; coffee; muesli (almond milk). Leaders’ Debate at UNGA : footage of Presidents Colombia, Bolivia, Honduras.

Worked on LFE. Did dishes, went to bathroom and showered.

Elevenses : coffee. ‘Marx’ apparently trending on Twitter (11.2k); ‘Meghan Markle’ (20.7k). Russian government introduced conscription apparently. Watched little footage funeral : pipes and drums.

Continued working as above.

Afternoon

Lunch : aloo gobi; naan. Read address to GA of UN Secretary General. Nominations for PPCs (Bathnes Green Party) extended 2 weeks as no female candidates. Compared feed in Twitter to that in Tweetdeck, noting differences.

Went into town centre visiting charity shops (DVDs) where told staff about EiE; Bath City College, noting telephone number for making appointments for free hair cut; and Leisure Centre to find out about possible membership (e.g. gym). Spoke to young professional fundraiser working for One Sixty International on behalf of Young People v Cancer, hearing about organisation and that she was trying learn not be too negatively affected by public responses (mostly ignoring her on day).

Tea : black tea. Phone Bath Academy leaving message requesting call back.

Siesta.

Evening

Supper : bombay mix; aloo gobi; naan. Unrest in Iran reported apparently following killing of woman in custody.

Watched The Pink Panther.

Tuesday 20th September 2022

Morning

Up 08 15. Woken after midnight by shouting. Congestion; discomfort in gut. Works and scaffolders afoot.

Breakfast : coffee; muesli (almond milk).

Checked Universal Credit and Seetec Pluss systems to confirm appointments, seeing that booked at 10 30 and 11 00 and therefore not workable. Sent messages to EA and WC to explain and to invite alternatives. WC opted not to meet, satisfied at progress, and EA preferred a phonecall to a physical meeting, in the afternoon to boot.

Went bathroom, showered, shaved, and trimmed beard. Did dishes.

Getting worked up at sanding furniture at rear (outside garage rather than inside), raised voices of scaffolders, and music (radio) at a volume associate with live events. Decided hoover amd tidy up, sweeping carpet to collect hair.

Elevenses : coffee.

Continued with housework. Still wound up : hoover ineffective; nowhere to dry clothes etc, etc. Went to Waitrose for food, buying pizza on offer and reduced salad. Spoke friend who said mutual friend engaged. Encountered neighbour on return who was trying marshal furniture and effects which had arrived. Offered help but politely declined.

Afternoon

Lunch : pizza; salad.

Spoke to EA (Seetec Pluss) on telephone as arranged. Allowance not made for day lost to State Funeral seemingly, compressing two days of appointments into one. Compared notes on progress, EA mentioning that job opening at SP in due course if of interest.

Went out to convey Green Party banners to colleague as agreed; she bought tea and ice cream at Walcot St cafe where we caught up and discussed political situation, national and local.
